Breeding

Our aim when we breed is ALWAYS to adhere as closely to the Alaskan Malamute Breed Standard as possible. We believe this means striving to produce healthy Malamutes, with excellent conformation, movement, breed type and temperament, who can perform the function they were originally bred for.

We never compromise our high standards.

We are long-standing members of the Alaskan Malamute Club of the UK and strictly adhere to the AMCUK Code of Ethics. We are also members of the Alaskan Malamute Club of America.

We breed only occasionally and with very careful planning. Our dogs are all UK Kennel Club registered and are hip scored and eye tested (clear) in accordance with the KC/British Veterinary Association schemes - before being bred from - as well as being PN & thyroid tested, DNA profiled, and health checked.

Any puppies who leave us have contracts to protect them and the future of the breed and all pets have neuter contracts, without exception. We ask that should the new owner, for whatever reason, no longer be able to keep or care for the dog, that it is returned to us.

We keep our puppies until they are at least 11 to 12 weeks old. This gives us a better opportunity to assess them and their personalities, and to match the ones who leave us to the most suitable new owners.

In this time they are developing their social skills. They learn correct social behaviour from us, their mother and the rest of our pack, during this crucial, mental-growth and development period.

We are very selective about where our puppies go and all potential owners are vetted by us, before being accepted onto our waiting list for one of our puppies.

If you are interested in one of our puppies we will need you to write to us describing yourself/work/lifestyle etc - and anyone else your Mal will be living with - we will then invite you to visit us and meet our dogs with the potential of going onto our waiting list.
